Responding to the need for new housing in San Francisco, as well as the ongoing need to improve the urban fabric, three schemes were developed. Through the marriage of new housing types to residual spaces in three distinct areas of the city, 132 units could be added by developing currently unused Public Agency lands. The designs enrich their neighborhoods by positively accentuating aspects of the context - the freeway/urban environment of 5th Street, the low-scale residential aspects of the Marina, and the urban/geological reality of Bryant Street.
